A decorative Empire style giltwood window seat or banquette of elegant neoclassical form, dating to the 20th century and bearing the retailer’s metal plaque for Charles-Emile Moinat, the noted Geneva antiquaire and decorator.

The upholstered seat is flanked by dramatic scrolled ends terminating in carved lion or griffin head mounts, with reeded giltwood framing throughout. Raised on boldly carved scrolling supports with foliate detailing and turned feet, the piece shows strong Empire influence and has a striking decorative presence well suited to both classical and contemporary interiors.

The striped upholstery complements the gilded frame well, with close-nailed trim to the inner scrolls and seat edge. Suitable as a window seat, hall bench, bedroom banquette, or occasional seating.
